Maternal Mental Health Counseling
Maternal mental health disorders, including depression and anxiety, are real illnesses, and when left untreated, can cause negative consequences for the mother, her child, her family and society. These illnesses may be caused by a combination of biological, psychological and social stressors and worsened by risk factors such as limited social support and teenage pregnancy. Maternal anxiety and depression are the most common complications of childbirth, yet they are not routinely screened for or treated.
The process of recognizing, getting treated for and recovering from postpartum depression or anxiety can seem overwhelming. Please know that with informed care you can prevent a worsening of maternal mental health disorders and can fully recover. There is no reason to continue to suffer. Some women treat symptoms with medication, some with natural remedies, some with diet and exercise, some with counseling, support groups, or spiritual practice. Many use all of them combined. Recovery is about you and your individual health and personalized treatment.
Being a Mom is hard work. If you're not feeling like yourself please reach out for support and help.

Child and Adolescent Counseling
Jennifer has worked with children and adolescents her entire career and knows what they need. She understands that children, like adults, can benefit from therapy. Talking about and working on difficult life issues can help children and adolescents develop problem-solving skills and also teach them the value of asking for and receiving help. Jennifer can help children cope with stress and a variety of emotional and behavioral issues. Many children need help dealing with school pressure, such as schoolwork, test anxiety, bullying, or peer pressure. Others need help to open up about their feelings surrounding family issues, particularly if there's a major transition, such as a divorce, move, loss or serious illness. Jennifer uses different modalities besides just talk therapy when working with children that include art and play therapy.
Jennifer can help with:
